Mama, I know motherhood can feel heavy some days. The laundry piles up again before you’ve even put the last load away. The dishes are never really done. Someone always needs a snack, a bath, a hug, or a ride. Our responsibilities never seem to end, and if we’re honest, it’s easy to feel tired and unseen.
But I’ve been learning to shift my perspective.
I don’t have to fold this laundry. I get to fold this laundry, because it means I have little ones who fill it with grass stains and spaghetti sauce. I don’t have to wash these dishes. I get to, because it means my family gathered around the table and was fed. I don’t have to cook dinner again tonight. I get to, because God has trusted me with the people sitting at my table.
What a privilege that is.
Scripture reminds us, “Whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men” (Colossians 3:23). That includes the dishes. That includes the laundry. That includes the hundredth peanut butter sandwich of the week. When we serve our families with intention, we are serving the Lord Himself.
And our work is not in vain. “Children are an heritage of the LORD” (Psalm 127:3). We are raising the next generation of believers, right in our kitchens and living rooms, through every ordinary act of love. Our kids are watching how we serve, and one day they’ll carry that same heart into their own homes.
So on the days it feels like too much, hold on to this promise: “Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” (Galatians 6:9).
The reward is coming, mama. Keep serving with love. It matters more than you know.
